EthCC Paris Impressive as Alchemy Pay Explores GameFi and ZK Proofs

Over the past weeks, Paris played host to EthCC – one of the year’s largest industry gatherings. It was clear to see the latest trends and developments in the space, with LSDs  (liquid staking derivatives), zero knowledge proofs, privacy layers, and the Gamefi sector all taking the limelight. Alchemy Pay sent a team to meet with partners and to share new ideas in the fiat-crypto payment sector, and of course share details on our new, white label crypto-funded Mastercard.

The Ethereum Community Conference brought in more than 350 speakers and 5,000 attendees. Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder, spoke at length on account abstraction, going back to before the layer-1 blockchain network launched. He also discussed the latest Ethereum Improvement Proposal, a change that could allow users to create non-custodial wallets as programmable smart contracts. If successful, this upgrade could potentially improve global web3 adoption by making crypto wallets as easy to use as an email account.

Demonstrating the continued interest in web3 from traditional social media, Reddit’s senior engineer for collectible avatars, shared the platform’s primary mission to onboard millions of users into digital collectibles, like it did last year. Reddit has onboarded more than 8 million users to its wallets and digital collectibles and made over $1 million in revenue for around 100 creators, Mirela Spasova said.

Meanwhile, Alchemy Pay was there to focus on a few areas of the industry. After supporting IoTeX’s exploration of blockchain-based internet of things applications since 2021, Alchemy Pay hosted an event alongside them. The event included many developers and exciting projects from the DePIN sector and was also co-hosted by Messari, Bitget, Polygon among others. Robert McCracken took the stage to discuss the sector with Vodafone, MatrixPort representatives.

With utility, community and accessibility at the forefront of the event, this may have been this year’s most important gathering for smart contract and DeFi developers on Ethereum and compatible chains. Alchemy Pay is also in talks with a number of ZK layer architects in regard to enabling fiat-crypto onramping to be highly private, easy and secure – and take it to the next level. Highlight events in that area were the numerous Polygon events that showcased and celebrated the relaunch of the Polygon mainnet chain, as well as the eagerly anticipated Polygon zkEVM blockchain.

There is no doubt that zero knowledge proofs promise to take crypto utility and usability to the next level. It is clear that this can have a great impact on KYC processes and user onboarding, and any form of integration with traditional finance and compliance will still hold significant challenges.

Alchemy Pay’s team also found time to meet with many new Gamefi projects at this year’s packed out gaming focused events. Gamefi developers in particular, are keen to integrate our fiat-crypto onboarding services which can provide them with global payment standards such as Mastercard, Visa, Google Pay, and Apple Pay in 173 countries and make their games more accessible to crypto newcomers.

EthCC Paris was a fantastic event that highlighted that the crypto spring has finally sprung. Renewed confidence in the markets and industry was palpable and the Ethereum community never fails to impress with its unwavering supporters and rapid evolution.
